One day, a man was walking in the desert and found a magic lamp. Remembering what everybody does when a lamp is found, he rubbed it with his shirt, and suddenly a genie popped out of it.
The genie said to the man:
- Hello master! I am going to give you a very important instruction, and I urge you to follow it thoroughly: grab a bunch of pebbles from the sand, keep them inside your pocket and tomorrow, master, you will feel happy and sad at the same time.
Puzzled, the man asked the genie:
- But how? Why? How is this going to make me happy and sad?!
Before the man got any answer from the genie, he disappeared in a big cloud of sparkling smoke together with the lamp.
The man, not knowing whether he was actually dreaming or not, grabbed a bunch of pebbles from the floor and put them in his pocket, as the genie had told him to. The day became night, and the man fell asleep covered by the desert’s stars.
The next day, the man woke up, and remembered the pebbles in his pocket. Rapidly, he grabbed them and took them out. He was amazed by the image: the pebbles that he had grabbed the prior day, had transformed into the most beautiful precious stones: diamonds, emeralds, sapphires and pearls.
And as the genie said, he felt at the same time happy and sad. He felt happy, because now he was a rich man, and sad, because he didn’t grab more pebbles.
The same thing happens regarding education: today’s pebbles will transform into precious stones tomorrow. Hopefully, you my reader, will grab enough so you don’t feel sad tomorrow.
